The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots are set to open on March 31, 2025, offering eligible home child care providers and home support workers permanent residence upon arrival in Canada. The federal government is launching two new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots on March 31, 2025, replacing the previous caregiver programs. These pilots provide permanent residence (PR) upon arrival, eliminating the need for caregivers to gain Canadian work experience before applying.
To qualify for Canada’s 2025 caregiver programs, applicants must:
The previous 12-month Canadian work experience requirement has been removed, making it easier for caregivers to qualify.
The 2025 pilots use a single-step PR application, allowing caregivers and their families to apply directly for permanent residency.
To apply, caregivers must submit language test results, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), proof of work experience or training, and a job offer.
Securing PR is a major milestone, but many caregivers aim to advance their careers—whether by upgrading credentials, pursuing further education or transitioning into other healthcare roles.
